Saudi Arabia offers Yemen USD 1.2 bln in economic assistance

RIYADH, Aug 1 (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced an economic aid package amounting in value to USD 1.2 billion for the Yemeni government to address the budget deficit and ensure food security.

The assistance, which comes in response to a request from the Yemeni government, aims to help the government and the Presidential Leadership Council pay the salaries of civil servants, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
The Kingdom is keen on maintaining the security, stability and economic development in Yemen, according to the report. (end) ast.gb.
