Kuwait official briefs UN on 2nd nat'l voluntary report

NEW YORK, July 20 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Kuwaiti Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD) Dr. Khaled Mahdi reviewed Kuwait's second national voluntary report on its response to the Covid-19 pandemic and relevant international cooperation, mainly with World Health Organization (WHO).

Speaking to KUNA about the document late Wednesday, Mahdi said it included the national plan and its harmony with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), given that the national agenda comes first and SDGs are nothing but output of the policies of the development plan.
He added that the report also contained the under-review goals of clean water, electricity, sustainable cities, industry, innovation, governance and companies.
The SCPD chief quoted Kuwait's Permanent Representative at the UN Ambassador Tareq Al-Banai as addressing the UN about the role of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and international partnerships.
"In the light of this success and laudation of Kuwait's voluntary report, the Secretariat-General of the SCPD will honor the agencies and partners that have backed the formulation of the voluntary report and had much influence in its compilation in this universally honorable way," he concluded.
