Japan to act appropriately on currency moves -- official

TOKYO, June 28 (KUNA) -- Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki warned on Wednesday that the government will act appropriately in the currency market, expressing concern over recent sharp foreign exchange movements.

"There have been rather one-sided moves in the currency markets. We will take appropriate steps if there are excessive moves," Suzuki told reporters.
"We will pay more attention to market developments with a sense of tension," the minister added. Suzuki made remarks after the Japanese yen fell to a 7-month low at the JPY 144 level against the US dollar earlier in the day. (end) mk.rk.
