EU inflation rate down 8.3 pct - Eurostat

BRUSSELS, April 19 (KUNA) -- European Union annual inflation rate was 8.3 percent in March, down from 9.9 percent in February. A year earlier, the rate was 7.8 percent.

The euro area annual inflation rate was 6.9 percent in March, down from 8.5 percent in February. A year earlier, the rate was 7.4 percent.
These figures were published Wednesday by Eurostat, the EUآ’s statistical office.
Compared with February, annual inflation fell in twenty-five EU Member States and rose in two.
In March, the highest contribution to the annual euro area inflation rate came from food & tobacco (+3.12 percentage points, pp), followed by services (+2.10 pp), non-energy industrial goods (+1.71 pp) and energy (minus 0.05pp), it noted. (end) nk.mt.
