Commerce ministry hits anew at prices manipulators

KUWAIT, Sept 7 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry declared on Thursday it shut down a central market in the district of Al-Farwaniya as a penalty for manipulating with prices of schooling accessories.

The ministry said in a statement the team of commercial supervision found the offenses during an inspection of the district, adding that legal proceedings were taken against the offenders.
Such inspections will be intensified in line with instructions by Minister of Commerce and Industry Mohammad Al-Aiban, the statement warned.
The department, on Wednesday, closed a market as punishment of identical acts by merchants selling schooling bags and other items at prices that contravened the rates set by the government.
Whistle blowers can relay their reports at the consumer protection centers in the country's six governorates or via Sahel application. The field teams are ready to respond to any complaints about prices' manipulations. (end) aam.rk.
